Over the Summer of 2014, I flew to Halifax and bicycled back to Vancouver. I brought along materials for making a kite with the intention of flying the kite in various places across the country. I never ended up making a kite, but nevertheless the materials traveled the entire distance with me accumulating the experience of the journey anyway. The installation of All the light forming a line from one side to the other brings together the kite materials along with photographic documentation of the trip.

Running an electrical current through seawater, splitting the water into its constituent molecules hydrogen and oxygen. The hydrogen then collected separately and siphoned into a balloon, until the balloon is sufficiently buoyant to serve as a weather balloon.

The seawater was collected from the Burrard Inlet at the beach at Crab Park. The remaining water was eventually returned to Burrard Inlet.
